Book of Shadows
A Book of Shadows is a sort of magickal scrapbook and journal. It is a compilation of the Wiccan practitioner's spells, recipes, beliefs, code of ethics, etc.
A coven may have its own Book of Shadows, and some families have a Book of Shadows that may be passed down from generation to generation.

Yea i thought this was a good way of describing the book of shadows, i fins that a lot of people believe its somthing you can buy, or even people asking where do i buy a copy of the book of shadows from the tv show charmed? i usually just laugh. Not many people know it just a book passed down from prev generations or that you yourself can create one. it can start of a journal of when you first started gettin in to wicca, personal experince, trials and even failures of spells, rituals, as you learn more from either family friends or even the net to add to the book, you can even create your own spells you dont have to go word by word of ones u see in spell books or of the net.
