June 8, 2007, Newsletter Issue #131: January Pork

Tip of the Week

On the secular New Year, Janus looks forward to the future and backward to the past. To keep your future from moving backwards, try this - pork roast with saurkraut, a tradition in eastern Europe. Pigs are sacred to Demeter/Gaia, and cabbages are dedicated to the earth - sacrificing a pig in Janus´ month was considered a sacred duty to stay in the Lady´s good favor. Cabbages are also good in money spells - but, most importantly, do NOT serve chicken, turkey, or similar fowl that scratch in the earth for a living - or you will find yourself "scratching" all year!
